You aren’t a failure as a friend, sister, mother, wife…woman.
We have all been there, some of us are just better at hiding it than others.
Please don’t let what you see while scrolling through your social media page discourage you.
That mom who just posted a picture of her happy, clean baby with her perfectly clean house in the background just had one of the worst mothering days of her life… she feels like a failure too.
That friend who always takes amazing photos of her super trim body struggles with her body image.
That wife who recently posted a selfie of her and her amazing husband just had a major fight.
That friend who always posts Instagram-worthy shots of her ever-changing wardrobe is burdened by thousands of dollars in credit card debt.
That single friend of yours who always seems to be out and about with her friends enjoying life is simply lonely.
Oh, and that picture that you recently posted of your well-put-together life…
Guess who thinks your life is better than theirs.
Do you see what I mean?
What you are comparing to your real life is not even reality. It’s a highlight reel, and sometimes a staged highlight reel.
Real life is messy. Real women are, too.
And that’s okay.
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to be super mom. You don’t have to pretend that everything is okay 100% of the time.
Your friends and family aren’t looking for a perfect you, they are looking for a real you. One that they can relate to.
They need to see that in spite of all your imperfections, you are loved by a perfect God who is willing to get his hands dirty by helping you through and out of your messes.
And then hopefully, they will see he is the answer to their messy lives too.
p.s. My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9 MSG
