Single, But Not Lonely
You have hit the age of 25, 28 or maybe 30… and you are still single. All these thoughts may be running through your mind right now:
Am I not beautiful enough?
Am I doing something wrong?
When will this season change for me?
Am I going to be alone forever?
I want to encourage you today and speak life into you, because the enemy is a liar.
You are very beautiful and precious! If you are being led by God’s Spirit and seeking His plan, you are not doing something wrong. The season of singleness will end for you one day.
You will not be alone forever. Single or alone doesn’t mean lonely. You are not lonely. No. When God is with you, you are not lonely.
There is a beauty inside of you that only the man God has for you will be able to see and will be attracted to. Relationships are not separate from God’s destiny and assignment for our lives. They are supposed to lift up, strengthen and encourage the purpose God has put you on the earth for!
If you are single, the best thing you can do is to find your destiny in God! Find what He has called you to do! What is your passion? What is your dream?
A godly relationship will never cause you to compromise who you are in Jesus, it will never keep you from the pace of running for Him, but it will add to the flame that sparks in your heart and give wings to it! (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
I have seen so many girls settling for much less than what God has for them, because they feel the clock ticking, the fear of being alone, or because of the emotions that consume them for a moment. Sadly, in the long term they found themselves unequally yoked with a man they never could have imagined years earlier!
It’ s easy to just enter into a relationship, but it takes following God to enter a covenant relationship that can stand through the waters and the seasons.
In the book of The Song of Solomon 8:7, which is the ultimate book on love, it talks about this covenant love: “Flood waters can’t drown love, torrents of rain can’t put it out. Love can’t be bought, love can’t be sold—it’s not to be found in the marketplace.” Covenant love is not found in the marketplace. Covenant love is found in the plan of God!
As a single girl, your only concern is to be in the plan and will of God! In His plan is the provision of everything you need! Emotional, spiritual, physical, financial!
Philippians 4:19, “You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus.”
If you bring this matter before God, His generosity will exceed even yours! He is your heavenly Father that gives good gifts! When you know how much He loves you, there is no fear that He will not fulfill what He has promised to you.
Yes, it may not happen in the timing and the way you want, but it will happen! Because He is faithful, and there is not a shadow of turning in Him!
Just ask without wavering, knowing that He is faithful. (James 1:6).
Let’s go back to the kind of relationship God is preparing for you…
Look what the bridegroom says about His bride in The Song of Solomon 8:12 “But my vineyard is all mine, and I’m keeping it to myself.” You will be all his. He will not share you with others. And look what the brothers of the Bride are saying about her (v9):
“If she is a virgin, like a wall, we will protect her with a silver tower. But if she is promiscuous, like a swinging door, we will block her door with a cedar bar.”
The Holy Spirit wants to protect your purity, He wants to protect your heart for what He has for you. Many times He will protect you like a silver tower, or He will block your door with a cedar bar to protect you from what is not for you!
That doesn’t mean that you are not beautiful! God is preparing you for what He has prepared for you! He is growing you into who you are IN HIM. This is the foundation of every successful relationship and for the mission He wants you to accomplish!
What is burning in your heart? As you are running towards this fire, there will come a moment when you will look to your side and someone else will be running alongside you with the same flame! That will be your husband.
And then you will realize that sometimes you may have felt alone, but you were never lonely! The Holy Spirit was there all the time inside of you. He led your steps into a beautiful plan that on your own you could have never imagined.
