I was whipping up a batch of waffles when I had the moment. I was completely taken off guard. My only thought that morning was getting the food on the table to feed my very hungry and not-very-quiet-about-it family.
But then Jesus blindsided me.
With music playing in the background that turned my mind toward heaven, I found myself lost in His love. I forgot about the waffles and let His goodness fill my soul. I wasn’t planning on having that moment, and I realize now that I don’t usually plan my moments with Jesus. I don’t have a special prayer closet, room, or even chair. Come on, I have three kids that have the amazing ability to be everywhere at once.
These special moments often happen in the oddest moments of my day, like this morning, making waffles. I suddenly realized that Jesus was right there with me, and I also became aware of the fact that as much as I was enjoying Him, He was enjoying me.
He looks forward to these moments with me. He waits for the moments when I have slowed down enough to become more aware of Him. Because He’s always there, He’s constantly present. But sadly, there are times that I miss it because I’m busy, rushed, stressed, and working too hard to notice.
I want to encourage you to join me in hushing the constant hustle of life to be more aware of Him. You don’t have to wait for THE perfect moment. It’s always the perfect moment.
He’s there waiting…
…while you’re working.
…while you’re resting.
…while you’re washing those who-knows-how-long-they’ve-been-there dirty dishes.
…while you’re driving your sleepy kids to school.
…while you’re putting your makeup on.
…while you’re studying for an upcoming test.
…while you’re lost in thought.
…while you’re shopping.
…while you’re hurting and crying.
…and yes, even while your making waffles.
You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment or place to spend time with Jesus. He’s already spending time with you – simply turn your heart towards Him and enjoy!
